Sometimes the best adventures begin by simply looking up.
Join Teetotal Initiative for a special after-dark edition of Everyday Adventures as we spend an evening exploring one of Pittsburgh’s most fascinating historic treasures, the Allegheny Observatory.
Tucked away among the trees of Riverview Park, the Allegheny Observatory has been looking toward the skies since 1859. One of the earliest astronomical institutions in the United States, it has played an important role in scientific discovery while introducing generations of visitors to the wonder of the universe around us.
For two hours, we’ll step inside this incredible Pittsburgh landmark for a guided tour through its history, telescopes, domes, and discoveries. We’ll hear the stories of the astronomers and innovators who worked here, see some of the remarkable instruments that helped shape our understanding of the universe, and, weather permitting, have the opportunity to turn our…
